My mother came here for her back surgery, she was up and walking the day after! The doctor was very well with communicating what was happening and what happened during the surgery.
I've had both hips replaced @Pennsylvania hospital. the orthopedic doctors are top notch and amazing. Hospital admin. and staff are great people . The nurses were kind and caring. Nursing assistants for most part were horrible and had attitudes and seemed very lazy. Day of surgery they locked my wallet in safe, explaining to me that should have someone from floor I'm placed on come get my wallet with the signed paper. I tried for three days to get Nursing assistant to help with returning my wallet. I finally explained issue to my physical therapist ( Andrew)who was kind enough to help he personally went got my wallet in 15 minutes. Also Kept telling them I was developing bed sore from faulty mattress on my back nursing assistants ignored me Finally someone on my doctor team said I'll be right back had me new bed in less then 10 minutes. This bed was great improvement over bed with bad mattress. Final issue is hospital makes a decision on which rehab I was placed in they placed me in Bryn Mawr extended that place was horrible I checked out after two days I surely hope hospital reviews the rehab. This placement for rehab is direct reflection on hospital . I question myself if I'd ever come to Pennsylvania hospital again if they assign terrible rehabs such as I mentioned above
I just had my sweet baby at Pennsylvania Hospital.
Least to say my labor was an incredibly humbling and vulnerable experience for me . From triage , to labor and delivery, to recovery I cannot say enough about the physicians and nurses who provided care to me. They were all compassionate, attentive, personable. Overall, I just felt really comfortable in such an uncomfortable situation. I will forever be greatful for each and every one of them. I without a doubt would have a second delivery at Penn.
I just had a baby here and I cannot tell you how great of an experiance this was! Firstly, this is my 4th time giving birth all at different hospitals which were all pretty bad/traumatic experiances until now. Sadly, my last baby passed away 2 days after birth so to say I was nervous/anxious would be an understatement. Not only did they take precautious measures to insure the health of my baby and myself, they were open to my birth plan. They made me feel in charge of my care and provided support, knowlege, resources and compassion. This meant the absolute world to me. Even though they were full of other patients they never made me feel neglected or rushed. The nurses, midwives and the rest of the staff were all amazing (especially Kia) from triage to labor and delivery to recovery. They were attentive without being overbearing and gave a phone number if you needed anything. The only thing subpar was the food but hey its a hospital so not surprising. 10 out of 10 recommend!! Thank you for making this my best experiance for my last child; we could not be more grateful!
A # of the negative reviews seem to be from folks who do not understand how procedures tend to work in hospitals. I have had very specialized urology procedure done here twice now as an in and out surgery patient... I travel 3 hours to come to Philly for this and apps w Dr. Ariana Smith in PennMed. She and her staff are knowledgeable, articulate, and caring. All of the nurses, staff, doctors in the pre-op and post-op know what they are doing and are friendly and approachable...plus the system they use to keep in contact with your caregiver or friends works beautifully. I have had the same procedure done at a number of hospitals and Pennsylvania Hospital is one of the best. Thank you to all for making my life better
The Nastiest Rudest most tacky , unprofessional Clerk I have ever encountered is the EMERGENCY ROOM unit clerk Vanessa. She needs to be terminated or retrained on professionalism , and customer service . I spent the entire evening in the ER due to abdominal pains , throat pains and a severe cold. The experience overall was lackluster , the hospital is not equipped for a larger volume of patients as they place patients in hallways on beds so tackily , no privacy , and the sense of urgency or element of actually investigating issues is almost removed cuz it’s only so much help u can receive in a busy hospital hallway. Ultimately after discovering my pregnancy I was sent home as if that was a fix to my issues , but I still was experiencing pain , and had this extreme cold… I called this morning , as the discharge instructions state and the like I’ve done multiple times before because my throat has gotten worse and actually I’m having issues speaking . The woman who answered was not only less then pleasant or welcoming she was downright nasty and rude. She cut me off mid sentence before I could even ask if the dr had meant to send me something for my throat , since I had answer and he the nurse mentioned it but never actually gave it and she said no Dr or respectable practitioner is gonna speak to u. Or conduit u on the phone and if u feel sick u can come back in, I said ma’am resoectfully I was just there for 12 hrs I’m simply calling to see if my practiciner forgot my medicine cuz I’m getting sicker and that’s counterproductive and I was there for 12 hours and nothing was done.. she yells well if u say nothing was done.. then why would I even be calling us or wanting to come back here ? That don’t even make sense.. so I replied because it’s y’all job and my child is sick often and I call the er and actually receive service or a nurse returns my calls and sends her meds if they weren’t correctly ordered etc. she said well I’m telling h nobody is gonna talk to h or call u back and I’m the unit clerk .. I said ma’am what is ur name she said Vanessa , I’m the unit clerk .. I said u can expect a review frommme and she hung up while I was speaking … I will be filing a complaint with the hospital formally because when put in these positions dealing with folks health it’s important to place professionals with care and patience , that are knowledgeable and actually perform the job . I don’t know how this nasty , trifling , vile, disposable human has a job still with that attitude and demeanor but I’m sure it’s time she be retrained or placed in a position that is not customer facing . Now I still have no resolve and will have to laugh myself back to the earer after being there for 12 hours simply to receive a medicine my dr mentioned prescribing that they forgot and could hav e been handled properly had there been a professional in the position of answering calls for the emergency department as she is representing Penn and not just herself
go to any other hospital. I have never been cared for so horribly in my life. Doctor could not be bothered to even tell me my results and just tossed my release papers at me. Don't let them put you in a hall way bed, you're basically seen as trash and an annoyance, much lower than all the overdosing junkies
I was just there for 3 days, The care was amazing, wasn't even waiting long in the ER before being brought back, Even the food there which I know is not the most important thing but the food is like you're being fed at a restaurant. I mean …
